As of 2026, Ashario Cannabis operates four licensed dispensary locations across Ontario, including a conveniently located store in Thornton that serves customers travelling from Newmarket and the surrounding Simcoe County region. This guide breaks down what to look for in a quality cannabis retailer near Newmarket, how Ashario Thornton compares, and why so many customers from Newmarket and Bradford West Gwillimbury are making the short drive to 239 Barrie St, Thornton, ON L0L 2N0.

What Makes a Great Cannabis Dispensary Near Newmarket, Ontario?

Newmarket sits at the northern edge of York Region, bordered by Aurora to the south and Barrie to the north. Residents and visitors seeking a weed store near Newmarket often look beyond municipal boundaries for dispensaries with wider product ranges, shorter wait times, and more knowledgeable staff. A strong cannabis store near Newmarket should offer several key qualities:

• Extended daily hours: so customers can shop before work or after dinner
• A diverse product catalogue: covering flower, pre-rolls, vapes, edibles, concentrates, and accessories
• Experienced staff: who can guide customers through product categories without making medical claims
• Consistent inventory: with products available across multiple product tiers and formats from reputable licensed producers
• Easy accessibility: with parking, clear signage, and a welcoming retail environment

When you evaluate dispensaries in and around Newmarket against these criteria, Ashario Cannabis Thornton consistently stands out as one of the most accessible and well-stocked options for shoppers coming from the Newmarket area. Our budtenders frequently hear from new customers that they drove past several other stores specifically to visit Ashario Thornton because of its reputation for consistent inventory and knowledgeable staff.

Ashario Cannabis Thornton: The Cannabis Dispensary Closest to Newmarket

Ashario Cannabis Thornton is located at 239 Barrie St, Thornton, ON L0L 2N0, and is open daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, 365 days a year, including every statutory holiday. Thornton is a small community in Innisfil Township, situated just off Highway 400, making it a straightforward 15 to 20 minute drive for most Newmarket residents heading northward. The store can be reached directly at +1-249-733-9333.

The Thornton location was purpose-built to serve customers who previously had limited access to a well-curated cannabis retail experience in the Simcoe County corridor. Shoppers from Newmarket, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Innisfil, and Barrie regularly visit this store because it combines the professional standards of an urban dispensary with the convenience of a regional location that avoids the congestion of downtown cores. Unlike many standalone regional dispensaries, Ashario Thornton benefits from the buying power and inventory management of a four-store Ontario chain: meaning shelves are restocked regularly and product gaps are uncommon.

Customers frequently ask our Thornton team whether the store carries the same product depth as the North York locations. The answer is yes: every Ashario location operates from the same centralized purchasing framework, so Thornton shoppers access the same licensed producer relationships and product categories as customers visiting our Centerpoint Mall or Finch locations.

What Newmarket Cannabis Shoppers Can Expect at Ashario Thornton

Ashario Thornton carries a comprehensive selection of licensed cannabis products across all major categories regulated under the Cannabis Act (Canada). Whether you're an experienced consumer exploring solventless concentrates or someone new to cannabis looking for an approachable edible format, the store's product range is designed to serve a wide spectrum of preferences and experience levels. You can browse Ashario Cannabis product categories online before your visit.

Cannabis Flower

Dried cannabis flower remains the most commonly purchased product category at Ashario Thornton. The store stocks indica-dominant, sativa-dominant, and hybrid cultivars from licensed producers across Canada, including craft small-batch offerings and value-tier multi-gram formats. Notable cultivar genetics that rotate through Thornton's inventory include strains with terpene profiles dominated by myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene: details our budtenders are trained to explain in plain language without making therapeutic claims.

Pre-Rolls

Pre-rolls are one of the fastest-growing cannabis formats in Ontario, and Ashario Thornton maintains a rotating selection of singles and multi-packs. The store carries both standard whole-flower pre-rolls and infused formats that incorporate concentrates such as hash, kief, or live resin into the roll for a distinct experience profile. Staff can walk customers through format differences and help them identify options suited to their familiarity level.

Vaporizers and 510-Thread Cartridges

Vape products at Ashario Thornton include disposable vapes, 510-thread cartridges in various strain profiles, and compatible vape batteries. The store carries both live resin and distillate options from multiple licensed producers: a distinction that matters to experienced consumers, as live resin preserves a broader terpene profile compared to standard distillate cartridges.

Edibles

Ontario's cannabis edible market has expanded considerably since legalization, and Ashario Thornton reflects that growth. Customers will find gummies, chocolates, mints, and beverages, with products available at a range of THC and CBD concentrations. Staff are trained to discuss format differences and general onset time considerations in educational terms consistent with Ontario cannabis retail guidelines.

Concentrates and Extracts

For customers familiar with cannabis concentrates, Ashario Thornton stocks hash, rosin, shatter, wax, and other extract formats. These products are kept in a dedicated section with staff available to explain the differences between solvent-based and solventless extraction methods: a nuance that matters when comparing products from different licensed producers.

Accessories

The Thornton store carries a curated selection of cannabis accessories including grinders, airtight storage solutions, rolling papers, and vaporizer hardware: rounding out the in-store experience for customers who prefer to handle everything in one stop.

Why Ashario Thornton Is the Top Weed Store Pick for Newmarket Residents in 2026

As of 2026, Ashario Thornton stands out from other cannabis dispensaries near Newmarket for three reasons that competing retailers rarely match simultaneously: inventory depth, staff expertise, and operating consistency.

First, inventory depth. Ashario Thornton carries products across every major cannabis format regulated under the Cannabis Act (flower, pre-rolls, vapes, edibles, concentrates, beverages, and accessories) from licensed producers including both large national brands and smaller craft LPs. Many regional dispensaries in the Simcoe-York border area stock narrower ranges that may not include concentrates or full vape hardware selections.

Second, staff expertise. Our Thornton budtenders are trained to discuss terpene profiles, cannabinoid ratios, and format differences in factual, educational terms. Customers frequently tell us that conversations at Ashario Thornton go meaningfully deeper than what they've experienced elsewhere: particularly when exploring concentrates, infused pre-rolls, or higher-CBD product options.

Third, operating consistency. Every Ashario location is open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, every day of the year without exception. For customers who depend on reliable access (whether on a Sunday evening, a holiday Monday, or during a snowstorm) this consistency eliminates the uncertainty that comes with stores that reduce hours or close irregularly.
